The Mufti of Tanzania Sheikh Issa Bin Shaaban Simba who died a couple of days before the advent of the Holy Month of Ramadhan, was buried in Shinyanga yesterday. The burial ceremony attended by hundreds of people, was led by President Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete and many other leaders of the Government, various political parties and Islamic organizations and other religious organizations.
In Dar es Salaam, just before the body of Late Sheikh Issa Bin Shabaan Simba was flown to Shinyanga, homage was paid by the Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Dr. Mohamed Gharib Bilal. Prayers were also offered by Muslims.
The news of his death was received as a breaking news with a great shock by Tanzanians in the country and other neighbour countries.
The Late Sheikh Issa Shaaban Simba was the Mufti of Tanzania and spearheaded the Supreme Muslim Council for Tanzania Muslims. BAKWATA was founded in 1968.
A Mufti is considered the pinnacle in the hierarchy of Islamic Scholars because of the advanced training required out of the individual. A Mufti is authorized according to Islamic Sharia to give Fatwa or directives or verdicts in accordance with Islamic shariah.
