Bagamoyo: A one-day seminar for thirty volunteers of Community Advisory Board Members who will be involved in the new drug of TB testing was held at the Ifakara Health Institute in Bagamoyo.
The nearly seven hours seminar with a short break for refreshment, was conducted by Dr. Omar Juma assisted by Mick Dhamiri Ramadhani and Sayed Abdul Hai. Such seminars will be organized by the mentioned facilitators after every three months.
More than 50% of the total CAB members are ladies with professional background of having worked in hospitals or health centres. The knowledge so gained from the seminar will assist them in conducting their duties to assist the IHI in conducting trials of new TB drugs in the rural areas.
Some notes and flyers written in Kiswahili (translated from the Toolbox) were distributed to all the participants as "home reading" task and will be discussed in the forthcoming seminars to gauge the progress of the participants.
